Principal's Message

My name is Dr. Mateo José López, and it is my privilege to serve as the principal of Tensas High School. I believe that education is most powerful when everyone — students, educators, families, and the community — shares responsibility for the success of our young people. My leadership philosophy is rooted in high expectations, strong relationships, and a belief that every student can achieve at the highest levels when they are supported, challenged, and inspired.

 

At Tensas High, our mission is simple but powerful: to cultivate a culture of excellence and equity where every student is empowered to reach their highest potential through rigorous academics, supportive relationships, and continuous personal growth.

 

Our vision extends beyond the walls of our school. We aspire to create a school where potential is nurtured, identity is celebrated, and dreams are transformed into powerful realities — a vision that can only be achieved when all stakeholders do their part. That means students committing to their learning, staff providing high-quality instruction and care, and families partnering with us to reinforce the values and expectations that lead to success.

I hold the same high expectations for our community as I do for our school: to show up, stay involved, and model the pride and purpose we want our Panthers to carry. When students see that the adults in their lives are united in their belief in them, they rise to meet the challenge.

 

I am excited about the road ahead and grateful to join a community that has so much strength and potential. Together, we will build on what makes Tensas special and ensure that every Panther leaves here prepared to lead and succeed.
